Day by day

Day1

Day 1 · Marrakech to Dadès Valley

6 h drive

Leave Marrakech early and climb through the High Atlas over the Tizi n'Tichka pass, with panoramic stops. Visit Aït Benhaddou, the UNESCO-listed fortified village known from many films and series, then continue to Ouarzazate, the gate of the desert, for lunch. In the afternoon drive through the Skoura palm grove and the Valley of the Roses to Boumalne Dadès, where you spend the night.

Day2

Day 2 · Dadès Valley to Merzouga

5 h drive

After breakfast, stop at a viewpoint over the Dadès Valley and its gorges, then continue to the Todra Gorge to walk between the high red cliffs. Drive through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad, with lunch on the way, and reach the Merzouga dunes in the afternoon. Switch to camels, stop on a high dune for the sunset and ride to your desert camp for dinner, Berber drums and a sky full of stars.

Day3

Day 3 · Merzouga to Fes

7 h drive

Wake up for the sunrise over the dunes, have breakfast and return by camel to Merzouga. Visit Rissani and its souk, then Erfoud for a fossilised marble workshop. Follow the Ziz river with a panoramic stop over the valley, have lunch in Midelt, then continue to the cedar forest to meet the Barbary macaques and on to Ifrane, the Switzerland of Morocco. You are dropped off at your accommodation or the airport in Fes.
